Y.E.L.L. is a free youth linguistics program run by high school students who love language and love helping others learn English phonetics, reading, and communication.
Y.E.L.L. (Youth Education Linguistics Learning) creates a vibrant space where kids who are learning English — or for whom it isn't a first language — can build real confidence in communication.
We specialize in phonetics and reading support, turning tricky sounds into predictable patterns and turning "I can't say that" into "listen to me now."
All classes are free, welcoming, and designed for kids of all backgrounds learning English.
We break down English sounds into clear, learnable patterns. Kids practice vowels, consonants, and blends through games and activities that make phonetics click.
All agesFrom sounding out words to reading sentences with expression, this program builds the reading confidence that carries into every subject at school.
Elementary focusSpeaking is the hardest part. We create low-pressure practice conversations so students get real reps in a kind, supportive environment.
All levelsY.E.L.L. is organized and taught entirely by high school students from Newton who are passionate about the English language and about making a real difference in their community.
We understand what it's like to be in a classroom where language feels like a wall instead of a door. That's exactly why we do this — to help younger kids climb over it and find their voice.
